COPA MARNATON eDREAMS 2020

 

MARNATON eDreams events are held in exceptional, natural coastal environments, with some sections being part of a Natural Park and / or Integral Reserve. We remind all participants of the importance of respecting the environment around us at all times, and therefore helping to protect it.

MARNATON requests everyone’s cooperation to leave no trace and leave a better space condition after the event than we have found.

As an open water swimmer, you respect and protect the environment. We count on your collaboration.

  1. Participant Requirements
  • Individuals of any nationality may take part, federated or not, who are in optimal health and conveniently trained to take part and perform the challenge.
  • Authorized event for people over 18 years, born from 2002. Children according to distance, consult during the registration process.
  • Know and accept the conditions of this regulation.
  • Having successfully completed all the steps and requirements for registration within the corresponding deadlines.
  • All information required in the registration process must be truthful. The organization is not responsible for the falsehoods or errors that the participant records at the time of registration.
  • Registration for the event is personal and non-transferable and implies acceptance of these regulation.
  1. Registration
  • Registration is only done through the MARNATON website (marnaton.com)
  • Registration period: 12 days before the event date or once the limit of participants is reached.
  • It includes:
  • Accident insurance during the event.
  • Assistance during the challenge (boats with rescue staff) and on arrival (Field hospital with medical staff).
  • Provisioning during the event and at the end
  • Swimming Cap
  • Event T-shirt
  • Physiotherapy service at the finish.
  • Chip raking and timing.
  • Trophies for the absolute winners and medals for the winners of each category.
  • Withdrawal management: The organization gives to the participant the possibility of hiring a cancellation guarantee during the registration process. In case of not contracting this guarantee, no refund will be made in any case, including injuries, accidents, travel, etc.
  • Changing of name: will only be accepted up to 12 days before the event. The organization will charge €10 fee for this management.
  • Change of distance: they will only be admitted up to 12 days before the event, as long as there are places left in the requested distance. If the amount is lower, the difference will not be refunded. But in the case that the amount is higher if the corresponding deposit of the resulting amount will be requested.
  • Change to challenge: Under no circumstances will changes from one registration of one challenge to another, nor from this year or the following edition.
  • Cancellation of the challenge: if due to adverse conditions or force majeure outside the organization, it is obliged to cancel the event or modify the course or timings, the registration fee will not be refunded in any case. In no case will the event be postponed to another date nor will the participants be reimbursed the amount of their registration fee.
  • Limit of places: the organization keeps 25 places for commitments with sponsors and partners. The organization reserves the right to increase or reduce the number of places for safety reasons or other reasons that may affect the proper development of the race. In any case, this modification will be announced well in advance on the web and social networks.
  1. Chip
  • It is compulsory to use the chip to participate in the event.
  • White single-use and returnable chip: the organization will provide it at a price of € 3 (VAT included).
  • Yellow Chip (Championchip). When registering, you must specify the serial number on the form.
  • In case of loss of chip the participant will not appear in the rankings even if they provide evidences and / or graphic material showing their position and / or time. Nor will he/she be entitled to absolute prizes or by categories. Claims in this regard will not be accepted.
  1. Swimmer’s bag Collection
  • To collect the swimmer’s bag and bib number, the participant will need to present their ID Card, PASSPORT or NIE (original or photocopy).
  • When collecting the swimmer’s bag each participant must check to collect: cap of the event, Chip (if not owned), t-shirt of the event and Cloakroom tag.
  1. Cloakroom

The swimmer must use the swimbag, identified with his bib number, provided by the organization to keep and store his personal belongings. The swimbag will have to be left at the designated point before the start of the race.

To retrieve their bag, which is looked after by the organization near to the finish area, the swimmer will have to show his participant number.

Cloakroom bags will be watched over at all times. But in case of loss of personal objects of swimmers, the organization will not be responsible. To avoid this, please do not place valuables in the cloakroom bags.

  1. Transport

Swimmers travel from the finish to the starting point, will be made before the competition by buses and / or boats and / or walking. The timetables of the transfers will be published and well reported in advance on the website.

  1. Compulsory technical kit

All participants are required to carry the following material, which can be checked at the start and / or at any point of the race:

Compulsory Kit:

  • Swimsuit
  • Swimming goggles
  • Swimming cap provided by the organization.
  • Chip provided by the organization (or property if you have recorded it during the registration process) correctly placed on the ankle.

Optional material:

  • Swimming wetsuit is still highly recommended. Anyway, swimmers who submit the form can swim without demonstrating that they are able to swim 2 hours without wetsuit in water of below 17ºC. They must submit the form at the time of picking up the swimmer’s bag or uploading it to the web at the time of registration.
  • If the water temperature is below 17ºC, the organization reserves the right to force the use of wetsuit or place swimmers without wetsuit to compete on short swim.
  • Buoy: its use is allowed.

The organization also recommends bring the following material:

  • Vaseline or oil to avoid abrasion.
  • Sun cream, better anti-jellyfish.

The organization may add some type of compulsory material not included in this section. In this case, this material will be notified well in advance to the participants through the website or by email.

  1. Starting Point

Starts will take place according on the level group chosen.

There will be a chip and timing control point at the start and another at the finish. Failure to pass control at any of the points will imply disqualification and therefore not appear in the rankings.

  1. Support boats and kayaks

Swimmers will be guarded by kayaks and support boats in order to ensure their safety.

Kayaks

Swimmers must always follow the line of kayaks that will guide them throughout the crossing.

All kayaks will be marked with brightly coloured lifejackets to facilitate the orientation of the swimmer.

Support boats

Motor support boats, marked with a BLUE flag, will govern at all times respecting a certain safety distance. There will be general support boats to cover the crossing, as well as boats that will have medically- trained crews specialized in rescue and first aid.

  1. Refreshments

The organization will supply food and drinks, which will consist of water, isotonic drinks, bananas and gels during the crossing and in the finish area.

The refreshment points will be located in boats designated by the organization, and anchored along the route, they will be duly marked with a yellow flag and helium balloon.

Swimmers will not be able to get on the refreshment boats but they will be able to rely on them.

The swimmer will decide freely in each case if he stops or continues with the race until the next stop.

It is not compulsory to stop for refreshments, although it is highly recommended.

Under no circumstances may the participant throw the wrapping or packaging from drinks and food into the sea. Such behaviour will be penalized with disqualification.

  1. Withdrawal

If a participant decides to withdraw, we recommend:

  • Requesting help by raising one or both arms.
  • The nearest kayak will support you while waiting to be evacuated.

The organization reserves the right to force a swimmer to withdraw the race:

  • Whenever a swimmer shows signs of extreme fatigue, dehydration, hypothermia, extremely slow rhythm when swimming or presenting any abnormal symptoms that prevent him from swimming normally.
  • If the swimmer fails to comply with any of the rules that govern this regulation (see disqualification section).
  • Once the obligatory cut-off time since the start of the event has passed (30 minutes / Km).
  1. Evacuation
  • In the case of adverse conditions and/or when there is no other choice, the organization will be forced to cancel the race by evacuating all participants.
  • In the case that a participant has to be evacuated, the organization will establish one or more evacuation points with health care depending on the course.

The organization reserves the power to penalize the behaviours not typified on the above list of faults that contravene the provisions of this regulation.

  1. Change to the route(s) and / or suspension of the swim.

For reasons of force majeure beyond its control, the organization reserves the right to suspend, divert, neutralize or modify the event’s time slots and / or the routes and refreshments. (See PDF Alternative plans).

This decision will be taken in a technical committee, agreeing with maritime authorities and safety device, taking into account safety. As well as respecting the conditions to which the permits are subject.

They can be a reason for plan B or cancellation:

  • Wave of a significant height of more than 0.8 meters
  • Winds of more than 15 knots (no gusts). Whenever the wind direction affects the route.
  • Visibility less than one nautical mile
  • Jellyfish Plague
  • Electric storm
  • Water temperature:

        In case of being below 16ºC the maximum distance will be 5000 meters

        In case of being below 15ºC the maximum distance will be 3000 meters

  • Any other reason that the organization believes does not guarantee the safety of the participants.
  1. Ranking System

When the event is over, the swimmer will have half an hour before the awards ceremony for possible modifications and / or claims about the classification.

  • Event

Each participant will be ranked according to the time taken to reach the finish line.

  • MARNATON eDreams Cup

Scoring event for the Cup, using the following formula:

XL distances (+ 10km): (Winning time / swimming time) * 1200 = nº of points

L distances (between 10km and 5km): (Winning time / swimming time) * 1000 = nº of points

M distances (between 5km and 3km): (Winning time / swimming time) * 800 = nº of points

S distances (less than 3km): (Winning time / swimming time) * 600 = nº of points

The result of the Cup classification will be the sum of the points of the different races of the MARNATON circuit, adding up to a maximum of the four best scores obtained. Therefore, if you participate in all the races, the worst score will be dismissed.

  • 2020 categories

Trophies will be given to the first three overall finishers, both male and female.

The first three overall finishers (male and female) will be excluded from the awards in their age category.

The top three classified, both male and female, of each age category will receive a medal.

The category trophies and medals will only be collected during the event’s awards ceremony.

  • +40 (born between 1980 and 1971)
  • +50 (born between 1970 and 1961)
  • +60 (born between 1960 and 1951)
  • +70 (born in or before 1950)
  • NON-WETSUIT  (only races of more than 3km)

Non-Wetsuit Category

  • In order to be eligible for this ranking it should be specified upon registration. Also the certificate for swimming without wetsuit must be uploaded during the registration process or present it when or present it when picking up the swimmer’s bag.
  • No flotation material or full-body swimsuits are allowed in this category.
  • Swimmers who chose to swim this category are automatically discarded for their age category.
  1. Disclaimer and Declaration of Physical Fitness
  • Registration for the event implies the participant’s acceptance of the rules and that they are properly prepared for the race, being aware of the hardness of the weather conditions that can be found in the environment where the event is being held. Consequently, the participant exempts the organization from possible health problems arising from their participation in the race.
  • Participants registered in the event understand that they participate voluntarily and under their own responsibility in the competition and therefore, exonerate the organization of the event of all liabilities and agree not to denounce the organizing entity, partners, sponsors and other participants, nor to make any claim of civil liability against the foregoing parties. For these purposes, when registering, the participant must tick acceptance box for the discharge to formalize the registration.
  • The organization recommends that all swimmers take a 3000m test in a swimming pool. Ideally this will be complete below 60 minutes and at a maximum of 75, to be able to successfully complete the crossing.
  • The organization does not recommend participating in the event if the result of the 3000m test in the swimming pool is a time over 75 minutes.
  • The organization recommends that all participants have a medical review / stress test annually.
  • In recent years, with the popularization of outdoor and long distance sports, unfortunately, the number of deaths among participants is rising; This is why the organization insists on extreme precautions.
  • Please remember that the challenge insurance does not cover any pathology such as myocardial infarction.
  1. Medical Information Questionnaire

All participants must complete a medical questionnaire. In the case of answering affirmatively any of the questions, it will be essential to participate, upload the required medical certificate to the platform.

  • The certificate must be completed by a qualified doctor, with signature and collegiate number.
  • It will specify the tests that the doctor has estimated that by age or risk have had to be carried out.
  • The participant declares that all the information presented in the medical certificate is true.
  1. Changes to the rules

In case the organization considers it necessary, it may change these regulations. Due notice of the changes will be given to the participants. Registration implies acknowledgement and acceptance of these rules.

  1. Image rights

The organizing body reserves the right to use any type of photography, filming or recording that it takes, as long as it is related to participation in the event. The organizing body exclusively reserves the right over the image of the MARNATON events, as well as of the audio-visual, photographic and journalistic exploitation of the competition.

In accordance with the provisions of Law 34/2002, on Services of the Information Society and Electronic Commerce in its article 21, we request your consent to be able to carry out marketing communications that we consider may be of interest to you, by email or by any other equivalent method of electronic communication.

Any media or marketing project will have to have the express written consent of the organization. Otherwise, all legal actions will be taken are considered to be relevant.

  1. Data Protection

Data Protection. In compliance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation 976/2016, MM MARNATON 2008, S.L. (hereinafter MARNATON) with CIF: B64835390, we inform you that your personal data provided through the registration form on the website: www.marnaton.com are incorporated into an automated file for which MARNATON is responsible for; the purpose of this file is to administer and manage your participation in the event.

In any case, you can withdraw the consent given at any time and exercise your rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition, by writing for this purpose to MARNATON through the email address: info@marnaton.com
